Your personal data – what is it?

Personal data is information about a living person who can be identified from that data.  The processing of personal data is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (the GDPR)

This website does not collect personal data from non-member visitors, nor does it employ cookies. The notes below apply only to registered members of the choir who have given permission for their personal data to be used.

Who are we?

The Combined Churches Choir (CCC) is the ‘data controller’. This means it decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes, in relation to the CCC.

How do we process your personal data?

The Combined Churches Choir aims to comply with its obligations under the GDPR by keeping personal data up to date (you can help us with this by letting us know of changes in the data that we hold about you, as necessary); by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or holding any more data than necessary for efficient running of the CCC; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.

In order to function as a choir, we use your personal data:

  • to administer membership records;
  • to promote the interests of the Choir;
  • to maintain our own accounts and records;
  • to operate the Combined Churches Choir website and deliver the services that CCC members have requested.
  • to inform CCC members of news, events, activities or services that involve the CCC.
  • to contact CCC member via surveys to conduct research about their opinions of current CCC activities or of potential new activities that may be offered.

What does the law say about using your data?

  • You need to give positive consent to the CCC holding your data.
  • You need to give explicit consent to how we may contact you about events, news and so on e.g. by post, email, phone etc.
  • This processing is carried out by The Combined Churches Choir provided:
  • the processing relates only to members or former members; and
  • there is no disclosure to a third party without consent.

Sharing your personal data

Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential. We will only share your data with third parties outside of the CCC with your consent, unless required to do so by law.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We keep your personal data only whilst you are a member of the CCC in order to be able to contact you as necessary for CCC purposes.  Otherwise, data will only be kept for as long as necessary if there is a possibility of legal claims/complaints; for safeguarding purposes etc.

Your rights and your personal data

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • The right to request a copy of your personal data which The Combined Churches Choir holds about you (i.e. your name, contact details);
  • The right to request that The Combined Churches Choir corrects any personal data if it is found to be inaccurate or out of date;
  • The right to request your personal data is erased where it is no longer necessary for The Combined Churches Choir to hold it
  • The right to withdraw your consent to the processing at any time;
  • The right, where there is a dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal data, to request a restriction is placed on further processing;
  • The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If we would like to change the way we use your data at any time, we will contact you to seek your permission to do so before making any changes.
